Audison APS 10 D Design Features
Each APS 10 D subwoofer is based around a proprietary steel frame. The frame includes several performance-enhancing features to ensure the woofer can handle a lot of power (400 watts continuous, 800 watts peak) while providing amazing excursion and output capabilities (11 mm Xmax). Where most subwoofers use a cooling vent on the back of the magnet, Audison relocated the voice cooling into the former and added vents around the base of the basket to let hot air escape. This design allows us to place the back of the sub right against the back wall of the enclosure to reduce the overall depth of the system.
The APS 10 D subwoofer features a treated paper cone for excellent strength and damping. The suspension uses a rubber surround and progressive spider that are optimized to prevent cone rocking at high excursion levels. The compliance of the suspension components is optimized for the cone and voice coil mass to produce excellent low-frequency output from sealed subwoofer enclosures as small as 0.35 cubic feet. Even more impressive is that the sub requires less than 3.5 inches of mounting depth, so it fits where conventional subs won’t.
Dual 4-ohm voice coil windings are connected to two pair of spring-loaded terminals. We can combine the coils in series or parallel to optimize the load for the amplifier you have chosen for your vehicle.
