Better Audio Systems Through the Use of Diagnostic & Testing Equipment

May 15, 2019 By The Specialists Leave a Comment

Better Audio SystemsWhen it comes to integrating better car audio systems into modern vehicles, Street Smart Automotive Solutions in Flowood has invested in diagnostic and testing equipment that is essential to creating installations that sound amazing. Whether we are upgrading a pair of speakers or integrating a new amplifier with a factory-installed source unit, we use our diagnostic tools and training to ensure that we deliver predictable results. Read on to learn about how our investment in technology provides a car audio upgrade that performs the way you want.

Real-Time Audio Analyzer

Better Audio SystemsA key tool in integrating and upgrading an audio system is our real-time audio analyzer (RTA). An RTA is an electronic device that shows us the frequency content of an audio signal. We use this information, along with the equalizer in a digital signal processor, to tune your audio system for smooth and natural frequency response.

When upgrading your factory sound system with a new amplifier and speakers, we use the RTA to measure the output of your factory radio or amp to ensure that we make all the connections accurately for predictable performance that won’t damage your speakers or subwoofers.

Amplifier Configuration Using an Oscilloscope

Another important tool our in our arsenal is our oscilloscope. This device allows us to inspect complex audio and electrical signals and analyze their amplitude. We use the scope to configure amplifiers to prevent clipping and distortion at high volume levels. We also use it in conjunction with our RTA to analyze audio signals from factory source units and amplifiers so that we use the right integration components to handle the provided signal.

Digital Multimeter for Voltage Testing

Another important tool we use daily is a digital multimeter. Unlike a test light, our multimeter lets us verify that we have the correct connections when installing security systems, lighting upgrades, radar detectors, collision warning systems and remote car starters.

We can also use our scope to analyze wiring for PWM or digital signals that may require a different integration approach. In essence, we never guess: We measure every connection to ensure that your upgrade will perform flawlessly.

How We Install Better Audio Systems

Our fabrication team can most certainly design and build almost anything in terms of the physical components of an audio system upgrade. But it’s our top priority to have the tools and training to make sure that the behind-the-scenes electrical and signal connections are correct and that the system is integrated and tuned properly. An audio system upgrade that looks cool is awesome, but not if it doesn’t sound great and perform reliably.
